Presents or Presence- Newry has it all this Christmas

It’s the most wonderful time of the year and it really is this year in Newry. Following almost two years of lockdowns and restrictions we are fully open. We couldn’t be ho, ho, ho happier.

Is it the season to fill your trolley with presents from our fantastic shops in our two shopping centres, The Quays and Buttercrane, or our local independent jewellers, clothing retailers and homeware stores; or maybe, it’s the season to be jolly with your presence, spending precious time with family and friends in our city centre restaurants, cafes, bars, the Canal Court Hotel and Spa or with a trip to the Omniplex to catch the latest blockbuster.

Whether it’s presents your after or simply being present, Newry really does have it all.

We have some great places to escape the madness and maybe catch a World Cup game with your family of friends. Check out Nan Rices with their four bottled beers for £10 offer, Cobbles with their £5 Christmas Cocktail offer (Weekdays from 3pm) Magees Bar, The Bridge Bar or the Railway Bar for a cozy corner and a friendly welcome. If you would prefer a coffee than a tipple, there’s a super morning coffee and scone offer available at T2 in Buttercrane, great banter and great food at McCooey’s or catch a super blend at Finegan and Sons before heading to The Shelbourne Bakery or the Corn Dolly to stock up on some Christmas treats.

You definitely won’t be stuck for lunch or dinner while visiting Newry. Enjoy a light bite at Café Krem or Deli-Lites or soak up the atmosphere at a window seat in Grounded. If you have time to stay a bit longer or want to stock up before a little retail therapy, we have a host of treats to take you right around the world; from the tapas of Art Bar Funkel or the local cuisine in Snaubs, The Oliver and the Bank Bar to getting the Italian vibe in Dolce Vita, Blue Print or Sapori.

After all that food why not take time for a leisurely stroll down the towpath or the greenway with the family and take a little time out together to enjoy the simple pleasures before hitting the shops.

There’s plenty of opportunity to stock up on the Christmas food and drink essentials. With all the big brand names- Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Lidl, Marks & Spencer’s, Supervalu, Dunnes and Iceland, in Newry, you’ll definitely be able to pick up the sprouts.
